VIRTUAL COUNSELLING

Get REAL is happy to provide virtual counselling sessions with one of two trans-identified registered social workers, at no cost.

We are currently hiring a part-time 2SLGBTQ+ social worker!

We are looking for a part-time 2SLGBTQ+ social worker based in Ontario (MSW, RSW) who could fulfill delivering 25 virtual counselling sessions to 2SLGBTQ+ youth (29 and under) with unstable housing situations, as a part of our 2SLGBTQ+ Virtual Counselling Program, over the course of roughly 8 months (starting May/June and ending December 2024)!

What is this Virtual Counselling resource?

Studies show that 2SLGBTQ+ youth are already at a high risk for mental health challenges, and are often unable to access affirming support service.

We at Get REAL want to close that gap and we set out to develop a program to connect 2SLGBTQ+ youth with affirming counselling service, free of cost.

We are offering 4 spots of 12 sessions each for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals 29 and under residing in Ontario.

 WHO CAN APPLY?

2SLGBTQ+ & questioning youth, 29 and under, in Ontario looking for support around topics such as gender identity, sexual orientation, coming out, and social anxiety/worry.

Application close September 30th, 2023

  • I specialize in working with queer, transgender, and GNC individuals as well as the parents and partners of 2SILGBTQ individuals. I will work collaboratively with you to navigate life’s challenges, uncover your strengths, build resilience, and broaden your understanding of self and others. When it comes to mental wellness people often suffer in silence. I know from experience breaking the silence and finding the right person to talk to can be freeing. As a person with lived experience of being trans/ queer, depression, anxiety, body shame, and self-doubt I understand the importance of community, chosen family, and support.

If you identify as 2SILGBTQ I can support you through: coming out, transitioning, body image, family, work/school, dating, gender identity, gender expression, sexual identity, and just life challenges in general. If you are a parent of a 2SILGBTQ person we can work together to address concerns, self-doubt, support options, advocacy skills, and, much more.

Whether you believe your concern is large or small we can all use someone to talk to. We are more than just our identity, we are a whole person full of complex thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
