SHELTER OFFERINGS
Research on the demographic of unhoused youth in Toronto show there is an overrepresentation of 2SLGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness, largely due to systemic discrimination across Canada.
"Understanding LGBTQ2S Youth Homelessness In York Region" by Alex Abramovich & Nelson Pang in particular underscored the need for more education about supporting 2SLGBTQ+ youth within homeless shelters; the report also highlighted the need for preventative measures including in-school support of G.S.A.s and Positive Space Groups.
This is a core focus of our youth programming across Canada and served as another reason we created workshops to support unhoused youth and staff, foster communities grounded in acceptance, compassion for others, and self-understanding.
Our workshops emphasize the importance of an intersectional approach, empowering our audience to create inclusive environments where all youth feel a true sense of belonging.
